These are my WISHES for U all on NEW YEAR 2009.
First of all wish you all a very HAPPY, PROSPEROUS, MEMORABLE AND A VIBRANT NEW YEAR.
Here I bring the SCORECARD of BOLLYWOOD FILM Industry in the year 2008. Year 2008 was a mix bag of fortunes for BOLLYWOOD, but to conclude it was not a good year for all the big distribution houses like RELIANCE ADLABS (BIG) and EROS International, reason being they bought some films at staggering prices like LOVE STORY 2050 & DRONA respectively.
Overall there were around 5-6 HITS in 2008 as RACE, JAAEN TU YA JAANE NA, ROCK ON, JANNAT, SINGH IS KINNG, JODHA AKBAR.
The major positive of the Year 2008 was the prominence of small budget films which made a mark on Bollywood, they not only recovered their cost but were also liked and accepted by all with open heart, examples being – A WEDNESDAY, MUMBAI MERI JAAN, JAANE TU YA JAANE NA. OYE LUCKY LUCKY OYE etc.
Major Big Budgets DUDS of the year were DRONA, LOVE STORY 2050 & YUVVRAAJ, which were disasters for everybody.
In all Bollywood had to suffer a total loss to the tune of USD100 million.

You will be surprised that SINGH IS KINNG did not find it’s place in my top 10, frankly speaking, though the film was one of the top grosser of 2009, it did not appeal me, the film was neither a comedy nor an action film, the only selling point was Akshay Kumar.
