3 IDIOTS Grosses 100 Crores in 4 days

Another Good news for Aamir Khan. His latest released movie '3 Idiots' has created a record by grossing over Rs.100 crore in its first 4 days of release. The film was distributed by Reliance BIG Entertainment, who had released around 2,000 prints worldover.

This comedy drama is based novelsit Chetan Bhagat's bestseller 'Five Point Someone', and is directed and produced by the magical duoMUNNABHAI fame Rajkumar Hirani & Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

3 IDIOTS has broken the earnings record of another Aamir starrer "GHAJINI" and has thus become the top grosser movie in the history of Indian Cinema .

The film also stars R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Kareena Kapoor.

Keep it up Raju Hirani, Aamir & team, the film is really beautiful and you all have done a wonderful job.

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty finally marries her love interest Raj Kundra, a London based businessman, whom she was dating for the past two and half years.

The Marriage took place on Nov. 22 in a farm house at Khandala, a beautiful hill station in Maharashtra, with very close friends and relatives being invited.

Shilpa was dressed in traditional saree in burgundy and red and crystals stitched on the choli.

"WANTED" Hindi Film Review

So Salman Khan is back after a long time to be seen in a full throttle action movie and he is back with a bang, specially for crazy Salman's fans. Myself too being a hardcore fan enjoyed the First Day First Show among full house marred with a series of whistles and cheers blown over Salman's antics by the audience.

Well WANTED is a remake of POKIRI, which was a blockbuster in Telugu and Tamil as well. The film reminds you of typical masala flicks which were very popular in pre-2000 era, where good always won over evil, hero over villain. In these times of non-conventional, exprimental and multiplex type films, hats off to Boney Kapoor who took risk and went ahead with WANTED.

The film totally belongs to Salman Khan, he can be seen in each & every frame of the film, in one word Wanted heavily depends on Salman braod shoulders and will click only due to his magical star power and his bigg fan following. Wanted is all about Radhe (Salman Khan) a dreaded criminal and sharpshooter who can do anything for money and works in Mumbai underworld for Golden Gang headed by Gani Bhai (Prakash Raj), who is in war with other gang headed by Data Pawle.

Killing and playing with gun is a child's play for Radhe. Newly appointed Commissioner Ashraf Khan (Govind Namdeo) aim is to make the city crime free for which he has to pay the price of his daughter. Salman's love interest is played by Jhanvi (Ayesha Takia), who I feel is misfit in the film and does not suit with Salman. In between, there is corrupt, Inspector Talpade (Mahesh Manjrekar), who lusts for Jhanvi and wait there is a don's moll also played by Mehek Chahal. For full story and suspense, it's better to go and watch on the big screen.

The film is directed by Prabhu Deva, the dancing star and he does justice to the remake. Though there is nothing new in the film, but he still manges to keep a hold on to the film with fast action and stunts, despite a weak script. Specially the action sequences in the climax are the highlight of movie, where Salman smashes the villains left and right.

Although the first half could have been more brisk, if a couple of songs would have been edited. Choreography is good and bit different, music by Sajid Wajid duo is so so, only JALWA song catches your attention where special appearance by Prabhu Deva, Anil Kapoor and Govinda brings the house on fire.

As regards to acting, Salman Khan has done full justice to the role, infact it seems that no other hero could have matched his performance for this power packed role. Ayesha Takia is OK, but any other actress would have been a better choice.

Bad man played by Prakash Raj is superb. Infact in some scenes he makes you laugh especially where he is held captive by policemen. Mahesh Manjrekar as a corrupt cop is superb. Vinod Khanna in a small role is wasted. Overall there is nothing much to do for others, it's all the way SALMAN KHAN in the movie. And his fans will relish him in this action avtaar after a long time. The film is for the masses and specially it will do wonders in single screens and U.P., Bihar & Maharashtra territories.

Overall the film will be a HIT, it had a bumper opening and then in view of the festive season - ID, DUSHERA and DIWALI, it will only add to the cash registers.

Slumdog Millionaire Kid's father dies

In a sad incident, Mohmmed Azharuddin, who came to limelight after acting in multi Oscars winner 'Slumdog Millionaire', lost his father Ismail Shaikh in Mumbai last Friday, who was suffering from tuberculosis since the past two years.

Ismail Shaikh, aged 46, is survived by his widow Shamim, son Azharuddin, and three more kids. Director Danny Boyle has expressed his condolence ro the family and promised support to them.

KAMINEY opens well at Box Office

KAMINEY directed by Vishal Bhardwaj has opened to an excellent response at Bollywood Box Office.

The combination of Vishal Bhardwaj, Shahid Kapoor & 'Dhan Te Nan' song has worked extremely well for the film plus the long weekend has been the icing on the cake. Shahid Kapoor has been liked by all and this is his best work of the career. In the movie, Shahid plays double role - Guddu & Charlie, both having speech defects with Guddu stammering and Charlie lisping. Even Priyanka Chopra has done a splendid job and her Mrathi accent has been liked by all.

Sad that the Mumbai & Pune audience will have to wait, since all the theatres are closed due to ongoing Swine Flu scare.

Shah Rukh Khan detained at Newark Airport

Bollywood has strongly condemned SRK's detention by the US airport security authorities, whereas Salman Khan said, “It is not such a big deal, when we go there we too have to go through the security check. There has been no attacks there since 9/11 because of their stringent security measures. I think it is a good thing (the security).”

Following are Shah Rukh Khan's comments :

“The US has developed religious paranoia over the years. My guard was also denied a visa because he has the same last name as mine. They said I can’t use my phone.”

“I was really hassled at the American Airport because of my name being Khan…The couple of hours of interrogation wanting to know if I know anyone in America while all around people were vouching for me from India and Pakistan (sic).”

“I told them I was a movie star and had recently visited the country for the shooting of my film. Nothing seemed to convince the immigration officer. There were other immigration officers who even vouched for me but this particular officer did not listen to anyone. I even told them I had an invitation from the South Asian community and was there to attend an event.’’

“Only these guys just would not let me through. Finally they allowed me to make a call, which I did and the Indian Consulate helped me through.

“It was absolutely uncalled for I think, me having just finished working there for more than a month…just a couple of weeks ago. They said I have a common name which is causing the delay…checked my bags…I felt angry and humiliated.”

SHAH RUKH KHAN detained in USA

In a shocking news , Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan aka King Khan was detained at Newark airport for almost 2 hours, whereas his assistant Subhash Jain was let off without interrogation. SRK arrived today in Newark International Airport in New York to attend Independence Day function in USA. On his arrival, Security agencies interrogated him for nearly 2 hours, even his bodyguard was also detained. SRK was then released when Indian Embassy Officials stepped in.

This was quite shocking and unfortunate for Indian community, since SRK is well known celebrity worldover, with his Wax statue at Madam Tusauds Museum. Bollywood has slammed USA for the incident and many remarks have come including director Mahesh Bhatt.

Bad news for Aamir and his fans. Aamir posted on his blog today on Aug. 12, the news about miscarriage of his wife :

"I have bad news folks. Kiran and I lost our baby. Despite our best efforts we were unable to avert a miscarriage. The last two months have been a struggle for us and that is one of the reasons I was absent from the blog in more ways than one. I need time to heal. I will be away for a while,"

Hrithik Roshan tattoes wife's Sussanne name on his wrist

Hrithik Roshan seems to be splashing water on to the rumours of his link-up with his co-star Barbara Mori, who has been paired opposite Hrithik in his forthcoming movie KITES.

In a surprise move to please his wife Sussanne, he got his left wrist tattoed with the name of Sussanne, who was holidaying in London with her friends Gauri Khan and others. Tattoo artist Sameer Patange did the job for Hrithik.

RAKHI SAWANT chooses her Groom in "SWAYAMVAR"

For the first time in Indian Television History, Bollywood film actor and Item Girl Rakhi Sawant chose her life partner in the form of Toronto based businessman Elesh Parujanwala, during a reality TV Show 'Rakhi ka Swayamvar', which was telecast live on NDTV Imagine channel on Sunday, August 02 and went on for 26 episodes. The event was held at the Hotel Leela Kampinsky.

There were 3 finalists among the 16 contestants - 22 years Manas Katyal and businessman Chhitiz Jain, both from New Delhi and Elesh Parujanwala from Toronto.

Rakhi was dressed up in red and gold lehenga choli designed by Neeta Lulla and kundan jewellery designed by Farah Ali Khan, and was looking just like a fairy tale queen. Whereas the to be grooms were dressed in traditional sherwanis and turbans for their big day.

Both Rakhi and Elesh were too much excited after the engagement. Rakhi said 'I have been watching Elesh from day one. On and off the camera, he has been the same and has really taken care of me. He is everything I was looking for and I am glad to have found him on the Swayamvar. She further added, 'Today is our engagement. I am ready to get married now, but we need to understand each other better off camera. We will soon get married in front of all of you in keeping with all our traditions,'.

Elesh also told that they will look for an auspicious day and will get married later.

Thw hot pair of Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol will be back on sreen with Karan Johar's 'My Name is Khan', and the flm before it's release has created a record i the way that Fox Star Studios are reported to have bought the film's marketing and distribution rights for a mind boggling Rs.100 crore, thus making it a biggest distribution rights deal in the India Film Industry.

Moreover, the film has surpassed the figures of Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini', which was sold at Rs.90 crore and Akshay Kumar's 'Singh is Kinng' figures of Rs.60 Crores.

SHORT KUT - THE CON IS ON Review

Here comes another remake of a hit Malayalam Mohanlal starrer film UDAYANANU THANAM. SHORT KUT - THE CON IS ON, supposed to be comedy film is produced by Anil Kapoor and involves some interesting personalities who have given many Super Hit Comedies as Anees Bazmee, the Writer and Neeraj Vora, the Director. Thus the film should have guaranteed a good comedy, but unfortunately fails to deliver.

The film is a spoof on on Bollywood, and narrates the story of two strugglers, who aspire to make it big in the film industry. One is Raju (Arshad Warsi) who is a buffoon, a non-actor and still becomes a Superstar after stealing a prized script of the other struggler Shekhar (Akshaye Khanna), who is extremely talented, but unlucky. Shekhar continues to struggle as a director after his script gets stolen.

As a result, Shekhar gets shattered and dejected, and his wife a reigning actress Mansi (Amrita Rao) leaves him, reminds you of Abhimaan plot, clash of ego between Amitabh & Jaya Bhauduri then. Now Shekhar is on a look out to take revenge on Raju and the destiny brings them face to face when Shekhar gets an opportunity to direct his first film with Chandu as a hero.
What follows is a tale of con, treachery, deceit, stardom and then a fall.

The film starts well, but fails extremely after the intermission, all credit to a lack luster, loose, shoddy script which is accompanied by stale humour, silly & childish comedy. In fact everyone in the film shouts and screeches to irritatingly. And to tp it all, the climax is extremely terrible.

As regards to performance, Akshaye Khanna, who is too good in such comedies tries hard and also acts well but is failed by the script. Arshad Warsi gets a more meaty role but fails to impress and sometimes overacts. However, some scenes of Akshaye & Arshad does bring out some smiles due to their comic timing.

And then there is a surprise in the form of Amrita Rao who for change shows lots of skin and surprisingly oozes lot of sex appeal just like Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela and Mast in olden days. But her romantic track with Akshaye lacks consistency and is the worst part of the film. Chunkey Pandey surprisingly as the acting guru-turned-star secretary, manages to give a restrained performance.

Now coming on to direction, Neeraj Vohra, after his successful Hera Pheri (Part 2), fails completely this time, due to lifeless and lousy screenplay. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music also fails in the film, with no melody. Cinematography is good, showing some exotic locales of Thailand.

Overall, Short Kut – The Con is On lacks the wit, especially given the talented team, the opportunity has gone lost, courtesy lackluster script & outdated comedy. Hence the film disappoints, even the film’s trailor was not upto the mark, which I saw during the screening of Kambakkht Ishq.

I will give 1.5 out of 5.

"LOVE AAJ KAL" Saif Ali Khan turns Producer

The film also stars yesteryear hit couple Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor along with Rahul Khanna. "LOVE AAJ KAL" is directed by Imtiaz Ali of `Jab We Met' fame. And do you know who recommended Imtiaz Ali to Saif Ali Khan, none other than Saif's love Kareena Kapoor, who has delivered a Super Hit "JAB WE MET" with Imtiaz Ali.

This was disclosed by Saif who was in New Delhi with his co-star Deepika Padukone and Imtiaz Ali to promote their film. Saif told reporters, "Kareena highly recommended Imtiaz when I decided to produce a film. At that time 'Jab We Met' hadn't released. So I met him... it was the script and the way he narrated it to me that really impressed me and we decided to make 'Love Aaj Kal',".

He further added "I love the way Imtiaz works. He is amazing,".

During a recent ceremony held in UK, to honour Shah Rukh Khan with a Doctorate by Bedfordshire University, SRK said that “I cried, it was since long I cried. My wife and kids also cried,” after hearing about the tragic death of Micheal Jackson

KAMBAKKHT ISHQ bumper opening becomes Super Hit

So Akki has finally delivered a hit after 3 Flops "Tasveer, Chandni Chowk to China & Tashan".

Akshay Kumar has proved all his detractors wrong, since 'Kambakkht Ishq' opened to a bumper opening and has garnered a whopping Rs 46 crore at the box office in its opening weekend including Rs 32 crore earnings from the domestic Box Office. Overall the film has grossed over Rs 100 crores worldwide in its very first week. This was confirmed by Eros International, the film's co-producer and distributorsaid in a statement. The film was released in about 2,000 screens world-wide, cost Rs 75 crore.

Thus Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer Kambakkht Ishq has seen one of the most successful openings in the Bollywood.

The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Eros International and directed by newcomer Shabbir Khan.

Shah Rukh becomes Dr. Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan has become Dr. Shah Rukh Khan now. He was conferred with the honorary Doctorate in Arts & Culture, by Bedfordshire University, a British University at a glittering ceremony held on July 10.

SRK was quite excited on getting the honour and jokingly said "Interestingly my kids don't understand this doctorate and believe I will be awarded a stethoscope". He further added "I get the feeling that I should further the cause of those underprivileged children who don't get the opportunity to educate themselves,''

The honour was conferred to Shah Rukh by Vice Chancellor of University Professor Les Ebdon. Indian High Commissioner Shiv Shankar Mukherjee was also present at the event.

So another feather on Shah Rukh's cap, Congratulations.

Katrin Kaif & John Abraham voted as most Eligible Single Celebrities

In a recent poll conducted by a matrimonial website, Bollywood Actors John Abraham & Katrina Kaif have been voted as the most eligible Single Celebrities.

In a response from over 18,000 netizens, around 48% of males voted for Katrina as the most eligible single female and 43% percent females opted John Abraham as their favoured eligible bachelor.

The other hot contenders were Salman Khan, Rahul Gandhi, Ranbir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, M.S. Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, Katrina scored over divas like Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor.

Deepika Padukone is waiting eagerly and excited for her latest film "LOVE AAJ KAL", releasing on July 31. Incidenatlly this is the first film to be produced by Saif Ali Khan, who also plays the love interest of Deepika in the film, which is directed by Imtiaz Ali of `Jab We Met' fame.

When we mention of Deepika's love interest, one interesting fact comes out is that, Deepika in most of her films have acted opposite Actors almost double of her age.

And do you know, who was one of the contenders & competitors of Shahid, none other than Kareena Kapoor, ex-girlfriend of Shahid, who incidentally turned Vegetarian on the insistence of Shahid Kapur.

"NEW YORK" - FILM REVIEW

Here comes one of the most awaited Bollywood movie, especially giving a huge relief to film lovers from the draught of movies since April 2009, owing to the strike between Multiplex Owners & Producers.

And no wonders doing justice to the promos, "NEW YORK" surpasses the expectations of audience. Contrary to Kabir Khan’s directorial venture “KABUL EXPRESS”, which was an extended version of a documentary film, he comes back with a hardcore commercial thriller which will be appreciated by one and all.



“NEW YORK” is a story of friendship set against the backdrop of New York and post 9/11 happenings. Omar (Neil Nitin Mukesh) who goes to USA for the first time and meets Sam (John Abraham) and Maya (Katrina Kaif). It is the story of these 3 friends who are enjoying their life in New York, but suddenly one day the world around them changes post 9/11 WTC attack and their lives are turned upside down. The turning point comes with the introduction of FBI undercover agent Roshan (Irrfan Khan).

The scenes involving FBI and how it rounds up the 9/11 suspects have been brilliantly shot just like a Hollywood film, kudos to Kabir Khan for bring genuinity to the film contrary to typical Bollywood masala flicks. He has deftly depicted the mentality of USA after 9/11 attacks, specially the way this country handled and tortured the suspects, in the absence of proper evidences.

Kabir Khan skillfully keeps the film under his control, properly with an optimum balance of offbeat & commercial ingredients. The film has all the ingredients of a blockbuster such as – pace, thrill, drama, emotion, action etc., which keeps the audience on the edge of the seat.

As regards to acting, surprise package is Neil Nitin Mukesh, who does justice to the most intricate role among the three protagonists.

John Abraham comes out of his Dostana trunks and in place of his well toned body shows his acting potential, which has been well exploited by Kabir Khan, especially the scenes of his detention are spine chilling plus his interaction scenes with Irrfan Khan are worth mentioning. In one of his interviews John rightly said that public will get to see altogether John in NEW YORK.


Katrina Kaif looks beautiful as usual and also does justice to her role. Her chemistry with both John & Neil is amazing. The performance by all 3 can easily be termed as the best ones of their career. Irrfan Khan once again is fantastic.

The other star of the film is it’s story by Aditya Chopra, which never looses the grip. Cinematography too is beautiful. Seems that the whole team is gonna ensure that "NEW YORK" strikes gold in most of the award functions.

Overall, “NEW YORK” is a must watch and bring backs Yash Raj banner once again to the form, since few of their last films have been duds.

I will give 4 out of 5 to the film, which surely has all the ingredients of a Box Office Blockbuster.
